Ce temple est situ\u00e9 sur la rive ouest du Nil dans la ville d\u2019Edfou dans <a href=\"https:\/\/landioustravel.com\/fr\/egypte\/villes-egyptiennes\/gouvernorat-assouan\/\">le gouvernorat d\u2019Assouan<\/a>. Le temple d&#8217;Edfou est le plus grand temple d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 <a href=\"https:\/\/landioustravel.com\/fr\/egypte\/divinites-egyptiennes\/dieu-horus\/\">Horus<\/a> et \u00e0 <a href=\"https:\/\/landioustravel.com\/fr\/egypte\/divinites-egyptiennes\/deesse-hathor\/\">Hathor<\/a> de Dendera.<\/amp-fit-text><\/p>\n\n\n\n<amp-fit-text layout=\"fixed-height\" min-font-size=\"14\" max-font-size=\"48\" height=\"50\"><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Histoire du temple<\/h2><\/amp-fit-text>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><amp-fit-text layout=\"fixed-height\" min-font-size=\"14\" max-font-size=\"48\" height=\"50\">Le temple en gr\u00e8s fut achev\u00e9 environ 180 ans plus tard par Ptol\u00e9m\u00e9e XII Neos Dionysos, p\u00e8re de Cl\u00e9op\u00e2tre VII<\/amp-fit-text><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><amp-fit-text layout=\"fixed-height\" min-font-size=\"14\" max-font-size=\"48\" height=\"50\">La construction du temple actuel a commenc\u00e9 le 23 ao\u00fbt 237 av. J.-C. sous le r\u00e8gne de Ptol\u00e9m\u00e9e III Euerg\u00e8tes et s&#8217;est achev\u00e9e en 57 av. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 construit sur le site d&#8217;un ancien temple plus petit, \u00e9galement d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 Horus, bien que la structure pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente soit orient\u00e9e est-ouest plut\u00f4t que nord-sud, comme sur le site actuel. Ce temple ant\u00e9rieur a \u00e9t\u00e9 construit pendant le <a href=\"https:\/\/landioustravel.com\/fr\/egypte\/histoire-egypte\/histoire-ancienne\/\">Nouvel Empire<\/a> par Rams\u00e8s Ier, S\u00e9thi Ier et Rams\u00e8s II. Un pyl\u00f4ne en ruine se trouve juste \u00e0 l&#8217;est du temple actuel.<\/amp-fit-text><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><amp-fit-text layout=\"fixed-height\" min-font-size=\"14\" max-font-size=\"48\" height=\"50\">L&#8217;apparition du christianisme en Egypte a eu une influence sur l&#8217;utilisation de ce temple. Le culte non chr\u00e9tien fut interdit dans l&#8217;empire romain en 391 apr\u00e8s JC. Ainsi, le temple est tomb\u00e9 en d\u00e9su\u00e9tude pendant des si\u00e8cles.<\/amp-fit-text><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><amp-fit-text layout=\"fixed-height\" min-font-size=\"14\" max-font-size=\"48\" height=\"50\">Il y a deux cents ans, le temple \u00e9tait recouvert de sable, de gravats et d&#8217;une partie du village d&#8217;Edfou qui s&#8217;\u00e9tait r\u00e9pandue sur le toit.
