III. Amenhotep, a XVIII. Dinasztia f\u00e1ra\u00f3ja az uralkod\u00e1sa alatt k\u00f6r\u00fclbel\u00fcl 1400 k\u00f6r\u00fcl \u00e9p\u00edtette ezt a templomot, ahol istenk\u00e9nt im\u00e1dt\u00e1k.<\/amp-fit-text><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><amp-fit-text layout=\"fixed-height\" min-font-size=\"6\" max-font-size=\"72\" height=\"80\">Napjainkban ez a templomkomplexum volt a legnagyobb Egyiptomban. A templom \u00f6sszesen 35 hekt\u00e1r volt. Az \u00f6sszes templom, amelyet ez ut\u00e1n \u00e9p\u00edtettek, nem \u00e9rte el ugyanazt a m\u00e9retet; m\u00e9g a Karnak-templom is, ahogyan az Amenhotep uralkod\u00e1sa alatt \u00e1llt, kisebb volt.<\/amp-fit-text><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><amp-fit-text layout=\"fixed-height\" min-font-size=\"6\" max-font-size=\"72\" height=\"80\">Sajnos ezt a hatalmas templomot sz\u00e1mos okb\u00f3l dr\u00e1maian megsemmis\u00edtett\u00e9k. \u00c9p\u00edt\u00e9s\u00e9t k\u00f6vet\u0151en nem sokkal azel\u0151tt, hogy Kr. E. 1200 k\u00f6r\u00fcl f\u00f6ldreng\u00e9s elpuszt\u00edtotta, a bej\u00e1ratn\u00e1l csak a k\u00e9t hatalmas colossi maradt, m\u00e9g mindig \u00e1llva. Ezeket tov\u00e1bb rombolta egy Kr.
