Deze tempel werd gebouwd door Amenhotep III (1390-52 v.Chr.) Maar voltooid door Tutankhamun (1336-27 v.Chr.) En Horemheb (1323-1295 v.Chr.). Uiteindelijk werd het toegevoegd aan de tempels gebouwd tijdens Ramses II (1279-13 v.Chr.). Tegelijkertijd kunnen we een granieten schrijn vinden aan de achterkant, die is gewijd aan Alexander de Grote (332-305 v.Chr.).<\/amp-fit-text><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><amp-fit-text layout=\"fixed-height\" min-font-size=\"6\" max-font-size=\"72\" height=\"80\">Tot op de dag van vandaag kunnen we heel duidelijk opmerken dat deze tempel nog steeds dient als een plaats van aanbidding. Tijdens het christelijke tijdperk werd de hypostyle hal van de tempel omgebouwd tot een christelijke kerk. De overblijfselen van een andere Koptische kerk zijn te zien ten westen van deze tempel. Gedurende deze periode was de deur naar het heiligdom van Alexander gesloten en dat de kerk zich in het tweede open hof bevond. Na de verschijning van de islam als een religie in Egypte, werd de tempel begraven onder de straten en huizen van Luxor voor duizenden jaren. Later bouwde een Soefi Shaykh Yusuf Abu al-Hajjaj een moskee over het noordoostelijke deel ervan. Deze moskee werd zorgvuldig bewaard gebleven toen de tempel werd ontdekt.
