Mostagedda (An Nazlah al-Mustajiddah) was an ancient Egyptian necropolis in Upper Egypt. The cemeteries of Mostagedda cover almost all periods of Egyptian history. Of particular interest are the burials of ‘pan grave’ people, nomads from the Nubian Eastern Desert; they seem to have worked and eventually settled in Egypt, retaining their own distinctive material culture until absorbed into Egyptian life. Some objects found in the tombs of this site date back to the Second Intermediate Period.
