What to Expect

You can visit some of the city’s most iconic landmarks during your trip to Cairo. Start your journey by exploring the Great Giza Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus. Also, tour the Sphinx, the enigmatic statue that has fascinated people for centuries. Another must-visit destination is the Valley Temple, where the king was mummified.

An excursion to the Egyptian Museum is also highly recommended. The museum houses the world’s most precious and extensive collection of Egyptian art, featuring over 250,000 artefacts spanning 5000 years of history.

Next on the itinerary is visiting Dahshur, Memphis, and Saqqara. Dahshur is home to the Bent Pyramid, the first attempt at building a smooth-sided pyramid, and the Red Pyramid, an entirely constructed, free-standing pyramid. Memphis, the first capital of Egypt, was a centre of rule and culture for over 3000 years, while Saqqara is home to Djoser’s Step Pyramid, the world’s oldest central stone structure.

Afterwards, you can enjoy a private tour of Islamic and Coptic Cairo. Explore the medieval Islamic monuments through El Darb Al Ahmar Street, where you can discover the Islamic Sabil, Madrasa, Wekala, Khan, Bayts, and other monuments. Walk through A Moez Street, a UNESCO world heritage site, and visit Al Hakem Mosque, Al Aqmar Mosque, Sabil Mohamed Ali, and Al Azhar Mosque, the main mosque in Egypt.

Visit the Coptic area of Old Cairo, one of the oldest Christian collections in the world. The “Hanging Church,” dedicated to the Virgin Mary, contains 110 holy icons depicting beautiful religious scenes. Also, see the “Saint Sergius and Bacchus Church,” which is believed to have been built where the holy family rested at the end of their journey into Egypt. Finally, visit the “Jewish Synagogue of Ben Ezra,” which gained importance from its Geniza (store room), containing a treasure of abandoned Hebrew secular and sacred manuscripts.

Places to Visit

Egyptian Museum

The Egyptian Museum is the oldest archaeological museum in Egypt and the Middle East. It exhibits an extensive collection from the Predynastic Period to the Greco-Roman Period. In addition, this repository houses the most comprehensive collection of Pharaonic antiquities in the world. This fantastic collection traces 5,000 years of Egyptian history.

Giza Pyramid Complex

The Giza Pyramid Complex is the most popular tourist attraction in Egypt. This Complex is an Ancient Egyptian site located on the Giza Plateau. Widely known, it includes the Great Pyramid of Giza, its associated networks, and the Sphinx of Giza. Also, we call it the Giza Necropolis. The ancient Egyptians built these massive constructions during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. Additionally, the Giza Complex includes several cemeteries and the remains of a workers’ settlement on its territory.

Pyramid of Khufu

The Pyramid of Khufu stands at a towering height of 138.5 metres. Located in the Giza pyramid complex, this oldest and largest Pyramid has astounded people through the centuries. This marvel constitutes a part of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world.

Pyramid of Khafre

The Pyramid Of Khafre stands at 448ft with a base length of 706ft. These measurements make the Pyramid the second-tallest and second-largest of the Giza Pyramid complex. This historical monument is also known as the Pyramid of Chephren. It houses the tomb of the Fourth Dynasty Pharaoh Khafre, who ruled between 2558 and 2532 BC.

Menkaure Pyramid

Menkaure is the third Pyramid in the Giza Pyramid complex in Greater Cairo, Egypt. This beautiful structure is the smallest of the three, rising to 66 metres (218 feet). Despite being short, the Menkaure Pyramid houses some of the most stunning sculptures from Ancient Egyptian history.

Great Sphinx

The Great Sphinx is one of the most significant sculptures in the world. It stands nearly 66 feet and showcases a reclined lion’s body and a human head. A royal headdress adorns the Sphinx’s human head. This magnificent statue is around 240 feet long.
