Day 1: Arrival Cairo – Welcome to the land of the Pharaohs
Greetings and welcome to Cairo, Egypt, where our services are available around the clock. We are pleased to inform you that upon your arrival at Cairo International Airport, your designated Landious tour manager will be present to provide you with comprehensive assistance. You will be escorted to your hotel in a deluxe, air-conditioned vehicle. Upon arrival at the hotel, your tour manager will facilitate a seamless check-in process and review your travel itinerary. This will enable you both to establish and confirm pick-up times for each tour. We are confident that our services will provide you with a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Cairo. Day 2: Pyramids and Cairo Sightseeing
Following breakfast, you will be accompanied by a guide to the Giza Plateau to visit the iconic Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chefren, Mykerinus, and the renowned Sphinx and Valley Temple facing the grand statue. Subsequently, you will be transferred to the Egyptian Museum, where you will have the opportunity to explore the Treasures Room, which houses the artefacts of the child King Tutankhamun. The itinerary will proceed to Islamic Cairo, where Khan El Khalili, Cairo’s historic bazaar, awaits your exploration. The day will be concluded with a return to the hotel for an overnight stay. Meals included during the day are breakfast and lunch.
Day 3: Tel Basta & Belbis
After breakfast, your guide will accompany you on the Holy Family Journey in Egypt. Your initial stop will be at the town of Babastis, currently referred to as Tel-Basta, located approximately 100 kilometres northeast of Cairo. Here, Jesus created a spring of water to drink, and you will have the opportunity to visit the holy well. Afterwards, you will see Belbeis, previously known as ancient Philippos. The Holy Family travelled northeast to Belbeis, approximately 55 kilometres from Cairo, where they rested in the shade of a tree later named “The Virgin Mary’s Tree.” Before returning to Cairo, you can visit the Saint George Church at this site. Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant, and you will then return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Cairo. Meals included are breakfast and lunch.
Day 4: Sakha & Samanoud
The itinerary for the day entails a hotel breakfast in Cairo, followed by a trip to Sakha, located approximately 140 kilometres north of Cairo. The visit will include a stop at the renowned Virgin Mary Church, a site highly regarded for its Christian community during the Middle Ages. Additionally, a visit to the footprints of Jesus Christ is part of the program. Then, a transfer to Samanoud will be scheduled, where the holy family crosses the River Nile and is warmly received by the city’s people. A visit to Saint Abanoub Church is also on the itinerary. The holy well, where the holy family drank, will also be visited. Lunch will be served on the way back to Cairo in Tanta. The day will end with an overnight stay at the hotel. The meals included in the package are breakfast and lunch.
Day 5: Wadi Natroun
Following breakfast, you will be accompanied by a personal guide to Wadi Natroun, a desert region believed to have received a blessing from Christ. According to tradition, the Holy Family crossed the western branch of the Nile (Rosetta branch) to reach Wadi Al-Natrun during their journey to Egypt, where it is believed that the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ sought refuge and blessed the four directions of the valley. Wadi Al-Natroun is renowned for its significance as a centre for asceticism and worship, and it is home to four surviving monasteries that are still active today. The itinerary will begin with a visit to Deir al-Baramus, the oldest of the four monasteries and considered the most isolated. The tour will then proceed to Deir Anba Bishoy, where the saint’s body remains in the monastery. Abu Makar Monastery will be the next stop on the itinerary, followed by a visit to Deir El-Suryani, the smallest and most compact of the four monasteries. Lunch will be provided en route to Cairo, where you will spend the night. Meals will be provided in the form of breakfast and lunch.
Day 6: Cairo Churches
You will begin your day with a satisfying breakfast at your hotel in Cairo, after which you will be accompanied by your guide to explore various churches in the city. The tour will commence with a visit to the Hanging Church and St. Sergius, followed by a trip to the Church of St. George and the Fortress of Babylon in Old Cairo. These sites hold great historical and religious significance, as the Holy Family passed them during their journey. You will then proceed to Mostorod to witness the impressive Virgin Mary Church and visit the Holy Well and Holly Marry tree at Matariya, a well-known resting place of the Holy Family and a popular destination among medieval pilgrims. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Cairo. Your overnight stay will also be in Cairo, providing ample opportunity to continue exploring this captivating city. Your meals for the day include breakfast and lunch.
Day 7: Cairo to Minya Tour
The day will begin with breakfast at your hotel in Cairo, followed by an excursion to the Holy Family Trip in South Egypt. It is believed that the Holy Family travelled in a boat on the River Nile and stopped at various locations, including the church of the Holy Virgin Mary in Maadi. This church is a popular destination for visitors who witness the holy book, which is believed to be a sign of the Holy Family’s visit. The journey continued towards the south of Egypt, where you will be transferred to EL Minya, an approximately three-hour trip. Upon arrival, you will visit the magnificent church hewn out of the cliff beside the river at Gabal Al-Teir in Minya. The day will culminate with an overnight stay in Minya, and meals will be served, including breakfast and lunch.
Day 8: Minya – Dendera – Luxor
Enjoy a delightful breakfast at your hotel in Minya, followed by a continuation of the Holy Family route. Your next destination is The White Monastery, a structure that dates back to 400 AD and was constructed by St. Senouda. The monastery comprises blocks from ancient Egyptian buildings and a basilica church that utilizes columns from old Egyptian structures. The walls and ceilings of the monastery are adorned with stunning paintings, and at one point in time, it was home to over 2000 monks. Afterwards, you will embark on a trip to the Monastery of Al Muharraq in Assiut, also called the Monastery of the Holy Virgin at Al Qusiya. This monastery was built in an area where the Holy Family stayed for just over six months, and their time was mainly spent in a cave that was transformed into the altar of the Church of the Virgin Mary during the Coptic era. The end of the Holy Family route is marked by a five-hour drive to Luxor, with a stop at Dendara Temple in Qena to visit the Temple of Hathor, the goddess of love and joy. The temple is located in Dendera, which is north of Luxor. Finally, transfer to your hotel in Luxor for an overnight stay. Breakfast and lunch are included in this itinerary.
Day 9: Luxor Nile Cruise Tours
Begin your day with a satisfying breakfast at your hotel in Luxor. Later in the afternoon, partake in a captivating tour of the East Bank of the Nile in Luxor, where you will have the opportunity to marvel at the impressive Karnak and Luxor Temples. Afterwards, return to the hotel for a delightful afternoon tea and dinner and spend the night in Luxor. This itinerary includes all meals, specifically breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 10: Luxor Nile Cruise Excursions
Following breakfast, you will proceed to the West Bank of the Nile in Luxor, where you can visit the Valley of the Kings, the Hatshepsut Temple at El Deir EL Bahari, and the Colossi of Memnon. Afterwards, you will return to the hotel for lunch and spend the night in Luxor. The meals provided during your stay include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 11: Edfu and Kom Ombo Temples
Indulge in a delectable breakfast before embarking on a tour of the Horus Temple at Edfu and the revered Kom Ombo, shared by the two gods, Sobek and Haroeris. Subsequently, proceed towards Aswan. Savour a delicious dinner at a local establishment before retiring for the night in Aswan. The meals provided during this trip include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 12: Aswan Tour
After breakfast, visiting the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk, and the magnificent Philae Temple is recommended. After this excursion, returning to a local restaurant for a midday meal is advised. The evening meal will be served later, followed by an overnight stay in Aswan. The meals included for the day are breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 13: Aswan – Flight to Cairo
After enjoying breakfast in your hotel, there will be free time in Aswan, during which an optional tour of Abu Simbel temple, one of Egypt’s top tourist attractions, can be enjoyed. The temple was initially carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II in the 13th century BC as a lasting monument to himself and his queen Nefertari. Later in the day, guests will be transferred to Aswan Airport to Cairo.
Upon arrival, a Landious Travel representative will greet you and assist you with your transfer to the hotel. Once there, you will have some free time, with check-in to your room available as early as possible. Dinner and breakfast will be served on time, and guests will spend the night in Cairo. Meals for the day include both breakfast and dinner.
Day 14: Cairo Optional Excursions
Optional excursions to visit the Step Pyramid of King Zoser in Sakkara and Memphis in Cairo are also available. Your stay in Cairo will be overnight at the hotel, with breakfast provided in the morning.
Day 15: Cairo – Fly Back Home
The itinerary for the day consists of partaking in breakfast at the hotel located in Cairo, followed by checking out of the accommodation. Subsequently, a transfer to Cairo International Airport will be arranged for final departure. The meal provided will be breakfast.
