Description

If you’re looking for a way to explore the ancient Egyptian attractions and learn about the country’s rich history, we recommend the Luxor Trip by Plane from Dahab, Egypt.

This one-day excursion will take you to some of the most famous sights in Luxor. Starting with a pick-up from your hotel in Dahab, you’ll be transferred to the airport to catch a flight to Luxor, which is only a 70-minute ride away.

Why Landious Recommends the Flight to Luxor?

You’ll start your trip from the west bank of Luxor, where the Valley of the Kings is located. This royal cemetery is known for containing 63 tombs and chambers constructed for the Pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom of Egypt.

The tombs, ranging in size from a simple pit to a complex tomb with over 120 chambers, are an archaeological marvel, and we’ll explore them together. Upon arrival, an English-speaking guide will accompany you throughout the day.

Before leaving the west bank, you’ll see the Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who reigned in Egypt during Dynasty XVIII. After the Valley of the Kings, you’ll visit the funeral temple of Queen Hatshepsut, called the “Temple of Al Dier El Bahari.” Your tour guide will detail the magnificent history of this temple, including why it’s so historically and architecturally significant.

Following this, we’ll have lunch at a local restaurant on the east bank with a stunning view of the Nile River. After lunch, we’ll take an afternoon tour of the Temples of Karnak. The complex is a vast open site, including the Karnak Open Air Museum.

It’s believed to be the second most visited historical site in Egypt, and it consists of four main parts, of which only the largest is currently open to the general public.

If time permits, we can visit Banana Island by boat, where you’ll enjoy the fresh air and taste some of the best fruits on the island.

After a day of adventure and exploration, we’ll catch our flight back to Sharm El-Sheikh and return to your hotel. Luxor Trip by Plane Dahab is a unique chance to discover the Nile Valley’s most significant wealth of ancient archaeological sites.

What is Expected to See during Luxor Trip from Dahab by Plane?

Monuments on the eastern bank of the River Nile

  • Karnak Temple: It is the largest temple complex in the ancient world. Amazingly, it represents the achievement of many generations of ancient builders and pharaohs. Its old name, Ipet-isut, means “the most sacred of places”. Continuously, this complex temple’s building lasted more than two thousand years. It comprises three main temples, smaller enclosed temples, and several outer temples on 247 acres. Within the great “Hypostyle Hall” is an incredible forest of giant pillars.
  • Luxor Temple: The Temple of Luxor was the centre of the most important festival – the festival of Opet. Amenhotep III and Ramses II built this majestic Luxor temple dedicated to the god Amun. This festival was to reconcile the human aspect of the ruler with the divine office.

Monuments on the western bank of the River Nile

  • Valley of the Kings: The Valley of the Kings is where magnificent tombs exist. It is home to tombs of ancient Egyptian kings, e.g., the great pharaoh Ramses II and Tutankhamun. Professionally, the Ancient Egyptians cared for those tombs deep into the mountain rock, richly decorated and filled with treasures for the afterlife.
  • Hatshepsut Temple: Hatshepsut temple, at El Deir El Bahary, is an impressive temple dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut, the only female pharaoh. It rises out in the desert with terraces and merges with the sheer limestone cliffs surrounding it. It is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved of all of the temples of Ancient Egypt.
  • Also, Colossi of Memnon: Two massive mono-stone statues of King Amenhotep III are the significant remains of a vast mortuary temple.
  • Temple of Tuthmose III: The temple construction occurred in the last decade of Thutmose III’s reign. We can guess that it was around 1435-1425 BC. Most probably, the temple saw destruction by an earthquake. It happened at the beginning of the twenty-first dynasty. Many discoveries took place eventually. One of them was the fragments of walls covered with relief decoration.
